We English like to moan. On the flipside, people are prone to exaggeration when they have a surprisingly good experience in the service industry. But I promise I'm not exaggerating when I say this is by a country mile the best tea shop I have ever been to. The treasure trove of antiques is interesting enough and a real find if you are looking for that special something to furnish your home. But even if you aren't interested in art deco and just really fancy a great cup of tea in laid back surroundings, this is the best tea shop you will ever visit. I know I sound like I'm related to the owner but I promise you I'm not - this is the best tea shop I've ever been to. To go is to understand.

This review is spot-on! I went to Metrodeco for the first time a few weeks ago and now go at least twice a week. The teas are amazing and all blended just for the shop and the coffee is better than at any coffee shop, including the Red Roaster, which is where I used to go. But, you're right, Anni - it's not just about the drinks and delicious homemade cakes and sandwhiches. It's the poeple there and the atmosphere that make it a really special place. I'd urge anyone in the Kemp Town area to try it out. In fact, I'd advise anyone in Brighton or Hove to pay a visit.
