The Little Green Man Turns Female in Spain
You’re standing at a crossing waiting for the little green man to show that you can cross, but when he finally turns up – it’s a woman! No you’re not an extra in a feminist’s dream, you’re in Spain, in Fuenlabrada near Madrid to be precise.
According to the Guardian Fuenlabrada is to replace half of their road signs and traffic signals with female silhouettes wearing skirts and ponytails in attempt to fight sexism.
I’m all for fighting sexism, but female silhouettes wearing skirts and ponytails smells more of sexism to me than the little green man. Can you look more unisex than that little green person?
More importantly this is one female who thinks that there are far more important battles to fight in order to get rid of sexism.
But what I really want to know is, what will happen to the funky animated little green men I saw in Spain that almost dance you across the road?
