Man-attacking Leopards to be Tagged
47 leopards are to be tagged with electromagnetic chips before they are released in the Indian state of Maharashtra, according to the newspaper Hindustan Times.
The leopards were captured when they started attacking people outside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai between 2004 and 2005.
The Maharashtra’s Forest Department is hoping that the electromagnetic chips will enable the department to keep an eye on the leopards as they are being released into the wild.
The leopards are to be released as soon as the Maharashtra’s Forest Department has found forests that will take the leopards. When the leopards are released it will be with a stark warning from the department that any reoffenders will be captured and locked up forever.
