Bring your cake and eat it at the Taj Mahal
The ban on mobiles and snacks at the Taj Mahal has been lifted, according to a spokesperson for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who is in charge of security at the World Heritage Site.
Mobiles can now be brought inside if they are switched off, and visitors can even bring light snacks to satisfy urgent cravings.
The previous ban resulted in extra long queues at the Taj Mahal, as visitors were locking up their mobiles in locker rooms and handing over snacks, before they were allowed inside.
Video recording is still only allowed up till the red sandstone platform, and smoking is completely banned on the premises.
