Hi Denae,
The official message from the Curaçao Tourist Board is that they encourage gay and lesbian travellers to visit, see gaycuracao.com . I wouldn't necessarily say that Curaçao is specifically gay-friendly, but I didn't experience or hear of any hostility aimed at gay people and I certainly found people on Curaçao to be friendly towards everybody, regardless of sexual orientation.

I didn't go to Klein Curaçao, but I've heard the snorkelling is very good from there. I didn't realise you can stay there, sounds fun!

I hope you and your partner have a wonderful trip! I'd love to hear what you thought of the island, when you get back.

Anni,
My partner and I are going to Curacao in Oct. I chose Curacao because it is supposed to be very gay friendly... Did you find that to be the case? We are actually going to spend the night on Klein Curacao and the tour company providing it is sending a fellow lesbian over with us as our survival guide!!! They are excited that we are coming to the island!

Thank you so much, I will let you know how they compare when I get there (not if)...
Thanks for your help, sites such as yours are much more helpful than the commercial sites!

Hi Carrie,
I can definitely recommend a visit to Curaçao, but I haven't been to Aruba, so unfortunately I can't compare the two.

It might help you to know that Curaçao does not depend on tourism, so you get to experience a more genuine island than is perhaps the case on certain other Caribbean islands.

I particularly liked the fact that when we went out for dinner or a drink, we would find as many locals in the restaurants and bars as tourists.

Curaçao is perhaps not as lush as other Caribbean islands and its beaches perhaps not the most spectacular, but the friendliness of its people is second to none!

Enjoy your holiday wherever you end up. If you end up on Curaçao, please let me know how the two compare.
