Kathmandu sees its first snow in 63 years

15 February, 2007 by Anni Poulsen

I mentioned recently that we don’t get a lot of snow here in southern England, but Kathmandu in Nepal sees even less of the white powder.

Snow flakes fell for the first time since 6 January, 1944 in Kathmandu yesterday.

Even with the 63-year wait, Kathmanduits had only a brief moment to enjoy the snow, as the snowfall was over within minutes.

The snow followed an incessant downpour that has caused disturbance throughout Nepal in the past couple of days.
