Questions from foreign Olympic volunteers welcomed

If you’re hoping to become a volunteer at the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but are not Chinese, you have a little while to go yet, before you can apply.

The recruitment of non-mainland Chinese and foreign volunteers will not officially start until March.

You can however now ask any questions, you might have prior to applying, as The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) is now officially welcoming questions from this group of would-be volunteers.

The process is simple, you fill out an online form with your name, your country and your question.

Noticeably, some countries such as Denmark and Greece are missing from the form’s drop-down list of countries. In fact all of the African countries are missing, doesn’t China want to be Africa’s best friend at the moment? I have used the form to ask, why those countries were not included in the list, and if volunteers from those countries are not welcome. I have yet to receive a reply, in fact I’m not sure, how they are going to apply, as you do not leave any contact details. But if I do receive a reply, I’ll let you know here.

The fact that you do not leave your contact details, such as your email, makes me wonder what exactly these questions will be used for? Potentially an FAQ page? But surely, if you are going to take the time to write them a question, you would want an answer yourself.
