Time to air your duvet

14 March, 2007 by Anni Poulsen

I’m currently sitting outside in my garden working on my laptop. Nothing special about that you might think, and you’d be right, except this is the very first time this year that I’ve been able to work outside. At the risk of jinxing the weather I’m happy to announce that spring has finally arrived to my small corner of the world.

We’ve already enjoyed mild, sunny weather over the past couple of days, but it wasn’t until this morning as I walked down to book an appointment with my hairdresser that it hit me – it’s spring!

I was no longer walking with my coat zipped up and my shoulders hunched, and I could actually feel the sun on my face. I felt a bit like a mole sticking its head out of a molehill – bright light, sunshine, what is this?

It is the sort of day when everybody crosses the street just to walk on the sunny side. The sort of day when the problem that you were struggling to solve the day before, all of a sudden becomes such an easy task. The sort of day that my late grandmother would haul all duvets outside to air them out.

So here I am in my garden airing not my duvet but my laptop and shaking off the last few winter thoughts that are lurking at the back of my mind.

Happy spring to everyone reading this wherever you are in the world! If it’s not spring in your corner of the world, don’t despair it will soon be your turn to air your duvet. In the meantime I’m happy to share my spring with you via the above shots from a sunny corner of my garden.
