Win a tour of the Olympics 2008 host and co-host cities

Fancy a tour of Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai and Hong Kong in August 2007? If your family has 3 or more members, you may be able to win just that in the “Olympic Families Tour Beijing” campaign.

The campaign, which was launched yesterday, 9 April, offers 10 families (5 from China, 5 from other countries) the chance to experience the four cities prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

To enter the competition you’ll need to go through the following stages:

• Go to the Olympic Families Tour Beijing website.
• Take the “Online Olympic Tour”, where you’ll need to pass a test at one of the checkpoints encountered throughout the tour.
• If you pass the test, you will be allowed to register your family and will then obtain your family id and password.
• Once registered you join the “Beautiful Family Stories” program, where you with a family slogan and a few photos try to charm the website’s visitors into voting for your family.

After the first round of voting the top 50 families from China and the top 50 families from abroad go through to stage 2.

Each of the 100 families will then run a blog covering topics to be chosen by the Olympic Families Tour Beijing website.

Based on these blogs a second round of voting will now take place in order to find the 10 winning families, who will go on the tour.

My immediate family only consists of two members, so I won’t be registering, but I did try my luck at the pre-register test. I chose to get tested at the Beijing checkpoint and was asked two very easy questions. One about Beijing and one about the 2008 Olympics.

I then needed to score a minimum of 1000 points in an online game of baseball. An impossible task in a real baseball game of course, but it was very easy to surpass the required score of 1000 in this online game. (If you play the game, note the funny spelling mistake, which turns “strike 1″ into “1 stroke”.)

That was all it took to qualify for registering, so if you and your family fancy touring Beijing this summer head on over to the Olympic Families Tour Beijing website.
