International Kite Fliers Meeting Fanø
I was very excited to learn that the 23rd International Kite Fliers Meeting on Fanø coincides with my visit to Denmark.
From 14-17 June the skies above the small island of Fanø will be filled with thousands of kites according to the International Kite Fliers Meeting website.
Judging from last year’s photos, kites of all shapes, colours and sizes participate – a sight I cannot wait to see.
I grew up quite close to Fanø, yet I only remember visiting the place once. All I remember from that trip was walking up and down a beach looking for amber – the gold of the north. I plan to look for amber this time around as well, but I don’t have high hopes, as the best pieces are usually found after a storm, and the chances of a storm in June are slim.
The island is only 56m² and has a population of just over 3,000 people. If all goes according to plan and I get to go to Fanø, I’ll be posting more about the island and the International Kite Fliers Meeting (including photos) in late June.
In the meantime you can read more about the International Kite Fliers Meeting on their official website.
