My Tree, Bury Hill, West Sussex – View of Sussex
Where: Just before Bury Hill, West Sussex.
When: August, 2006 and April, 2007.
What: My tree. Well it is not really mine, but as I wrote back in August, 2006:
“[..] the tree that I have adopted as “my tree” ever since we moved to West Sussex. The tree is a lonely standing tree in the middle of a field just off the A29 near Bury. It is as good as dead, and I’m not sure why the farmer of the field hasn’t chopped it down. I have yet to find out if the tree has any historic meaning, and if that is perhaps why it is left there, but I enjoy seeing “my” little tree, and hope it stays there.”

If you zoom in close on our View of Sussex map, you can also see “My Tree” on the satellite view.
View of Sussex Series
The photos above of “My Tree” form part of our new View of Sussex series.
The View of Sussex series consists of photos taken in the counties East and West Sussex with the occasional photo from Brighton and Hove. At times a photo will be accompanied by a story, but primarily the photos will be published on their own, just to give you a feel for the place.
Part of the series is also the View of Sussex map, which indicates where the various photos were taken.
Do not expect masterpieces, the photos merely reflect how we see Sussex. I do hope, though, the photos will inspire you to pay Sussex a visit.

I cal that tree MY TREE too. I passed it twice yesterday. I was told that it was an old hanging tree and I was also told it was a tree that King Charles slept in. Not sure if either could possibly be true.
true or not, they’re interesting stories. Thanks for sharing!
