The Sea Stallion arrives in Dublin
The Sea Stallion, the replica Viking ship on its experimental voyage from Denmark to
Ireland, is now less than 14 nautical miles from Dublin.
The 30 metre long ship is expected to arrive in Dublin around 13:30 GMT to the ringing welcome of the 16 bells of Christ Church Cathedral.
The Sea Stallion has been underway since 1 July and with only 7 weeks to complete the journey, the crew suffered the humiliation of being towed for part of the journey across the North Sea due to lack of easterly winds.
Nevertheless, I’ve really enjoyed following the ship via The Sea Stallion website. Complete with logbook, diaries, video podcast and games.
If you’re in Dublin, you should go greet The Sea Stallion, I suspect it will be quite a sight when it arrives. For more information about The Sea Stallion celebrations in Dublin, visit Dublin - The Official Online Tourist Office for Dublin.
Update - 13:26 GMT: For those of us who can’t be in Dublin this afternoon the arrival of The Sea Stallion is being shown right now on this live webcast.
