no, the EHIC does not cover any private medical healthcare, nor does it cover going abroad for planned treatment, nor does it necessarily allow you access to free healthcare. To quote the European Commission, it only: &quot;ensures that you will get the same access to [emergency] public sector health care (e.g. a doctor, a pharmacy, a hospital or a health care centre) as nationals of the country you are visiting.&quot;
