Currency Ready for Space Tourists
There are just far too many places on earth that I have yet to see, for me to even begin to think about a trip to space – nothing to do with cost, honestly. But if you are one of the lucky few who can afford the approximately USD 10 million it currently costs to travel into space, then you might want to get your hands on the new currency Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination (QUID).
The QUID has been developed especially for use in space by Travelex, the National Space Centre and the University of Leicester. The currency will be made of the durable polymer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and have round edges so that it does not cause any damage should it be allowed to float. Each quid will contain eight planets orbiting a sun and the currency comes in different colours and sizes depending on value.
Happy spacefaring from this poor, grounded traveller!
