The winning 2-euro coin design

The winning design of the new euro coin design competition that I mentioned last week, is design number two – my favourite as you may have guessed from my screenshot in my post last week.

141,675 votes were cast, 41.48% of which went to the winning design, number two, created by Greek sculptor George Stamatopoulos. Design five came second with 32.67% of the votes.

Michael Milewski from Poland was randomly picked amongst the voters voting for the winning design and won the euro collector coins set that was up for grabs.

The new coin should become available in January 2009.
