1 April, 2008 by Anni Poulsen

When the official Beijing Olympic Torch reaches London on Sunday, 6 April, The Tibetan Freedom Torch will also arrive in the capital.

The Tibetan Freedom Torch was lit on 10 March in Olympia, Greece as a symbol of “[...] the hopes and aspirations of the Tibetan people for freedom and justice [...]” by Tibet campaigners.

The torch is now on a world relay and London will be the first city where the relay coincides with the Beijing Olympic Torch relay, followed by Paris and San Francisco.

The Freedom Torch programme in London starts with protests along the Olympic Torch relay route in the morning and culminates in a rally at Argyle Square from 14:15.

The London leg of the Olympic Torch relay starts at Wembley at 10:30 (ticket holders only). It should reach Oxford Street around 12:00 and continue past numerous landmarks, before it finally ends at the Arena at North Greenwich (ticket holders only) around 18:00.
