The Travel Cooler Retaggr-enabled

11 June, 2008 by Anni Poulsen

Update: In the 3 months The Travel Cooler was Retaggr-enabled, not a single one of the travellers commenting on The Travel Cooler had a Retaggr profile card. So I’ve disabled the feature.

The Travel Cooler is now Retaggr-enabled.

Retaggr is an online service that allows you to create an interactive business card (profile card), which you can leave whenever you leave a comment on a Retaggr-enabled website.

Below is my Retaggr profile card:

If you don’t already have a Retaggr profile card, you can create one on the Retaggr website. Once you have your profile card, you can embed it here on The Travel Cooler whenever you leave a comment by typing your profile card url in the “website” box of the comment form.

I’ve left a comment below so you can see how it works. If you click the little i-icon next to my name you should be able to see my profile card.

I’ll be running the Retaggr-enabling as a trial and will be monitoring the uptake for a couple of months before I decide, if The Travel Cooler remains Retaggr-enabled.

Update: Had to disable the image tagging feature, as it was interfering with a couple of link-enabled images. Also the automatic look-up of email on the Retaggr server will not happen unless I install the Wordpress plugin. I won’t be installing the plugin until I’ve had a chance to check exactly what it does, so for now the only way to have your profile card shown here is by inserting your profile card url in the “website” box of the comment form below.

Just a comment to demonstrate how the Retaggr profile card works.
Click the i-icon next to my name and you should see my profile card. Feel free to try your card out.

Update 10 September 2008: I’ve disabled Retaggr, so my card is no longer here.

    Hi Anni!

What a nice site, makes me want to holiday immediately ;)

Thanks for giving retaggr a go, but it looks to me like you may not be experiencing the full effect of retaggr, due to how you’ve installed it.

In order for your visitors’ comment to have their card attached (like on http://www.spicevine.com), you need to install the wordpress plugin.

This will *also* give you the functionality you’ve got right now (the image tagging, and marking up in text), which you can get just from the javascript.

If thats confusing at all, drop me a line via my card, and I can help you out with anything you need.

    Thanks, take care!

Thanks Nik. Thanks for making this service available. I’ve got the plugin, just need to have a look at it before I install it.

Other than the hover effect, exactly which extra functionalities will the plugin provide that the current javascript doesn’t provide?

For now though visitors can still embed their profile cards by inserting their profile card url in the website box.
