A new travel video site, TravelGuide.tv has just launched. TravelGuide.tv provides professional destination videos, similar to the service provided by the Video Passports site that I wrote about back in February.

TravelGuide.tv currently only covers 25 popular cities, mainly North American or European, but 25 more city guides are in production, according to TravelGuide CEO Stephen O’Shaughnessy.

For each city the site provides a video in each of the following 9 categories:

  • Introduction
  • Attractions
  • Tours
  • Museums
  • Nightlife
  • Hotels
  • Transport
  • Shopping
  • Restaurants
  • Map
  • Weather
  • Photos.

I have not explored TravelGuide.tv and Video Passports enough to be able to give you a detailed comparison of the two sites. My initial impression is that both provide very professional videos.

Video Passports no doubt has better world coverage and more videos to choose from at the moment. On the other hand I do like the video topics on TravelGuide.tv. They allow you to use the videos in a similar way to how you would use printed travel guides.

Decide for yourself if you prefer TravelGuide.tv and Video Passports, or if indeed you find such videos useful at all?
