As I was learning about the Darfur crisis in Google Earth yesterday, I stumbled across the 100% Pure New Zealand layer located under Travel and Tourism.

More than a million cubic metres of water came gushing down the Whangaehu Valley in New Zealand around 11am local time, following the warning sounds from the lahar warning sensors at Mount Ruapehu Crater Lake, according to local media.

New Zealand on mudslide alert

New Zealand is facing the risk of an imminent mudslide.

The water level of Mt Ruapehu’s Crater Lake has risen to within 1.5m of its maximum, and the surrounding dam wall could collapse within days sending a massive volcanic mudslide down the mountain.
