Ghana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations went in to overdrive yesterday, as the country commemorated 6 March, 1957, when Ghana gained independence from British colonial rule.

I’ve declared my fascination with flamingos before on this blog, so I was very sad to learn that the flamingos at Lake Bogoria in Kenya are going hungry.

It offered me no consolation that this time people were not to blame.

Beijing to Lagos route opens

China Southern Airlines opened its new route Beijing to Lagos, Nigeria on 30 December.

The Guangzhou based airline is currently the only airline that provides a semi-direct airlink between China and Africa (with a stopover in Dubai).
